Only 4 days left to see this film.
Rated: Parental Guidance (Not Recommended For Children)
Runs: 96 minutes
Director: Garth Jennings
Country: UK/France
Released: 2007
Starring: Bill Milner, Eric Sykes, Jessica Hynes

“Drawing on his own childhood fascination with the 1982 classic Rambo: First Blood, writer-director Garth Jennings (Hitchhiker's Guide) presents the improbably whimsical coming-of-age yarn Son Of Rambow. Young newcomer Bill Milner brims with infectious enthusiasm as shy ten-year-old Will who escapes the confines of a strict religious upbringing by re-enacting the macho exploits of Sly Stallone in the English countryside. He is recruited by Will Poulter, playing school outcast Lee Carter, and together they cheerfully set the screen on fire. It's a grudging partnership at first. Carter desperately needs an actor for the film that he hopes will win him the BBC Screen Test competition. Since he's a rebel loner with no friends and Will is much smaller than he is, he basically bullies him into the job. But Will is easily swayed, especially after catching a glimpse of Sly tearing up the Vietnam jungle on pirate video, and he soon dons dirty vest and bandana and reports for duty in local woods. Sadly it's not long before his smothering mum and her Plymouth Brethren are threatening to pull the plug. A joyous spirit of mischief is ever-present and Jennings has an eye for brilliant visual gags too, like the spectacle of a small boy being catapulted in a homemade stunt... Beyond the belly laughs and sunny 80s nostalgia, this is a portrait of friendship which is truly tender and moving. Jules Sitruk as a French exchange student (and movie star wannabe) is pure comedie... Let your inner child run amok.” - Stella Papamichael, BBC. “The exceptional coming-of-age comedy so accurately captures how boys behave, you'd think Jennings planted his camera inside a 10-year-old's skull... The script shows true understanding of both boys, who couldn’t come from more different worlds but find a common bond in their love of storytelling, fantasy, and all-around fun. If you adore movies - and why would you be reading this if you didn't? - you are going to go crazy for Son of Rambow.” - Sean O'Connell, Filmcritic.com
Advance Tickets ~ IMDB on Film ~

Runs: 92 minutes
Director: Anand Tucker
Country: UK/Ireland
Released: 2007
Starring: Jim Broadbent, Colin Firth, Juliet Stevenson

“When actors of the caliber of Colin Firth, Jim Broadbent and Juliet Stevenson are all brought together, supported by a script and direction worthy of their talents, it’s a good bet that real quality will be up on the screen. Thus, When Did You Last See Your Father?, directed by Anand Tucker (Hilary and Jackie), delivers the expected to audiences seeking intelligent, engaging entertainment with some tasteful melodramatic twists. Firth stars as Blake, a successful writer/poet with a loving wife named Kathy and two kids, who gets the grim news that his doctor dad Arthur is terminally ill. Blake returns to his family’s comfortable home in rustic Yorkshire, where he gives support to his gentle mother Kim, also a doctor, and shares the burden of watching over Arthur. Memories are aroused and fault lines revealed as Blake confronts the reality of a problematic past with his father.” - Doris Toumarkine, Film Journal International. “Broadbent is a hoot... A superior British drama.” - Empire. “It’s amazing what finely attuned directorial talent, scriptwriting finesse and superlative acting can achieve.... an emotional, often hilarious examination of those convoluted family ties with which most of us can identify in some measure.” - Richard Mowe, Box Office Magazine.
Advance Tickets ~ IMDB on Film ~

“Just when you thought there was no way to spin a fresh zombie story, along comes Fido. Set in a Canadian suburb during the 1950s, the movie boasts a delicious premise: What if humans were the victors in a zombie war, and now the living dead fit with dog collars to zap their cannibal instincts were turned into domestic slaves? Hey, zombie, mow that lawn. Housewife Helen, played with inspired silliness by Matrix diva Carrie-Anne Moss, persuades her wimp hubby to get the family its own rotting corpse. Lonely son Timmy calls his new pal Fido. As played by Scottish comic Billy Connolly, Fido is a good doggie until he gets his collar off. Then, oh boy!... Fiendish fun.” - Peter Travers, Rollintg Stone
Advance Tickets ~ IMDB on Film ~

Runs: 125 minutes
Director: Sergei Bodrov
Country: Kazakhstan/Russia/Germany
Released: 2008
Starring: Tadanobu Asano, Honglei Sun, Khulan Chuluun
Language: In Mongolian with English subtitles
Awards: Academy Award Nominee, Best Foreign Language Film

“The founder of history's greatest contiguous empire gets an appropriately bravehearted movie, an exciting actioner from Russian director Sergei Bodrov. Introduced as a 9-year-old, young Temujin - who'll grow up to be the ruler Genghis Khan - picks his young bride, but soon sees his chieftain father poisoned by a rival clan and his lineage ignored. Facing down adversaries and acquiring allies, Temujin later winds up imprisoned, escaping to battle his turncoat friend, Jamukha. Filmed in Mongolia, the movie... is filled with gripping battle scenes. And every performer is tough and charismatic, especially Honglei Sun, who, as Jamukha, gives so many neck-cracks, guttural howls and conspiratorial smiles he's like a Chinese Marlon Brando.” - Joe Neumaier, NY Daily News. “With its breathtaking landscapes, bloody battles, bitter betrayals and an aching love story, Mongol is a sumptuously crafted epic.” - Empire UK.
Advance Tickets ~ IMDB on Film ~

Only 2 days left to see this film.
Rated: Parental Guidance (Language May Offend, Mature Theme)

Little Miss Sunshine's redoubtable Abigail Breslin is swellest of all in the title role, believable (and admirable) as an unpretentious go-getter with an open mind; when not helping Mama open their house to boarders, she investigates a local crime. Others in the nabe include Max Thieriot as a hunky young hobo, a perfectly cast Wallace Shawn as a newspaper editor, and, for screwball spin, Stanley Tucci and Joan Cusack as a traveling magician and a motoring librarian. The latter is, actually, hell on wheels.” - Lisa Schwarzbaum, Entertainment Weekly. “A throwback to the kinds of movies they don’t make anymore... This wholesome, engaging entertainment offers something for viewers ages 7 to 107.” - Variety
